After many years of living out of state, I just returned to the Waukee area since I'm now on a kidney transplant list. I had heard about Pickerman's and decided to give the soup a try ...
The cheddar potato was thick and tasty, and honestly, I can't recall a better bowl of soup!! (Hope my transplant turn out as well!)

I always seem to forget about Pickerman's...
I ordered the eight inch That's Italian. Roasted bell peppers with melted provolone cheese on top of prosciutto, cured salami, and black forest ham with their signature Italian dressing... Doubled the meat and added a side of potato salad and some asiago cheese bread... $11 and change...
Everything was good. No complaints.
We've really got quite a few locally owned "gems" of sandwich shops between about 22nd/86th out to about Jordan Creek Pkwy on the West side.
Pickerman's, A Taste of Italy, 5 Borough Bagels, Hungry Boyz...Palmer's (four local locations...but I think it still qualifies). And probably a few others that just aren't popping into my head rights now...
They're all worth a visit.
Along with numerous franchises and national chains...
I ordered through Foodsby today so I can't really comment on the restaurant or in-house service...
I did notice Pickerman's is toying with the idea of starting to serve breakfast. If this interests you I'd encourage you to visit their web site and fill out their survey. -

First time trying this place out. I have to say it was very delicious. I saw multiple people come in and order to go. Looks like a good place for lunch if you work in the area. I ordered the Italian sandwich and they toasted it which resulted in a gooey cheese which was a bonus. The place was small and lightly decorated but I bet more people take their lunch to go. I'll definitely be back.

This is the fourth time I have tried Pickerman's - as it is close to my office. The first time, I stopped to order a sandwich to go, and waited for nearly 20 minutes as several people who entered and ordered after me received their orders (I asked two of them if they called ahead - they said no). The second time, we ordered delivery and the order was not prepared as specified (condiments, dressing selection, etc). The third time, we ordered in advance to eat at the location, were told it would be ready in 15 minutes, and had to wait an additional 15 minutes after arrival, even though the restaurant was virtually empty. The last time - today - we ordered for delivery on a rainy day, were told delivery time was 10 minutes. The delivery arrived 1 hour and 15 minutes later, missing the desserts and with a chicken pecan salad in which MOST of the lettuce was slimy and inedible.

Thank you for the awesome soup and box lunch delivered by grub hub. I ordered 2 quarts of the soup of the day, not wanting to know what they were. We wanted to have some fun with this. We were pleasantly surprised with 1 quart of chicken tortilla and 1 quart of cheeseburger chowder. They were bith delicious and hit the spot!!! Thanks for all the extra bowls, spoons, and crackers. I would definitely recommend these guys for delivery.
